FYS experience 5

One Sunday afternoon, I was on my way back to the campus when my two friends, James and Jared asked me to go out to eat with them. I said sure because we never had a chance to hang out. So we went to Union Station to eat Chinese food. It was good and I put a lot of bourbon sauce on my chicken. I asked where to go now and they said I pick. I decided to go outside and walked around Union Station. I then asked them if they wanted to go see George Washington University because I have a few friends there. They said sure!! So we walked towards the university but after an half-hour we were getting tired of walking so we went to the metro and met my friend at Foggy Bottom stop. I introduced them and my friend showed us the campus. It is pretty spread out! I haven’t looked in the gym but it sure does look big on the outside.

We went into the library and it was big. I don’t remember how many floors but I think 8 floors. It looked pretty nice. There was on good advantage- there was Starbucks next to the library. They are lucky to have that. They got something to drink then we went to my friend’s fraternity- Kappa Sigma. I already know the people in KS because my brother’s in that fraternity. My friend introduced them to all the members and pledges. Then we left because they had a meeting. At the metro, we pretended to be statues by sitting still and posing. It was pretty funny because a woman kept looking at us. we got off at New York avenue metro because the shuttle wasn’t running. We walked back but we had fun though. After that we went to Jared’s room and played his videogame Burnout. It is a pretty good game. I love racing.

Looking back on that day, I realized I haven’t had that much fun in a long time. I felt like I had a chance to be myself, that I didn’t have to worry about what people thought of me if I did silly things or crazy things. If I am with friends I am comfortable with I will be myself. It was a good experience for me. I am glad my friends asked me or I wouldn’t had fun like I did with them. I hope I will be able to do that again with them!!

FYS experience

I am asked to do experience paper but this week I have none. So instead I will type on how my week was. Better than nothing, right? This week feels like a blur really.  On Monday, I had English, FYS and math class. English class was good but I was a little tired. We were discussing the chapters about argument and evidence. We also discussed Purdue University’s OWL. It stands for Online Writing Lab. It is a very interesting website because it has almost everything you need. It has literary analysis which is good for English Class. In FYS class we had the author Hands of My Father come to our class and talked about his life. It was pretty interesting. I did not go to my math class because my former school was here visiting for open house and I have not seen my best friend since August. I am sure I missed nothing so it’s all good. I wanted to spend time with her before she left at 3.  I saw some of my other friends from my school too. On Tuesday I had Linguistic and ASL class. Linguistic was a little fun. We talked about scores on our test and overall grade. Then we talked about different types of system of communication. We partnered up and identified one video and tell how we identify it.  In ASL it was pretty interesting. We talked about name signs. We learned about ANS (Arbitrary Name Sign) and DNS (Descriptive Name Sign). Mine is ANS. We then learned all of our classmate’s name sign. People can have both. I think the professor said something about ASN cannot overlap ASL signs? Something like that. Interesting huh? I think so too. Backtrack to the weekend!! I save the best for the last. This weekend, wow. Friday was good. I stayed up and talked with friends until 7 in the morning. I was planning on going to the football game and help with my brothers fraternity on Saturday but…. I overslept. Damn it. It’s the second time in a row. Next game, I’m seriously getting up. That day, there was a club event hosted by my brother’s fraternity, Kappa Sigma. The club was banging!! I met their hearing fraternity brothers. They were very nice. I love the Kappa Sigma fraternity. They are very nice and have interesting people in it.  Kappa Sigma is internationally known. Most colleges have that fraternity. If you want to know more go to http://www.kappasigma.org/

NSO week

During NSO week, I met many different people from everywhere. I also met old friends. I met my roommate again. I had already met her when I stayed in Florida for the summer. I participated in some things but some I missed because I either overslept or I was busy doing something with my brother. He is a junior here. He helped me get to places I needed to go on campus. I went off campus to get things for my room so I can feel like home. That week was a good week because I learned a lot about people.

Job Fair

For my learning experience, I went to the Job fair on Thursday.  I dressed up nice and went to the Kellogg hotel. It was pretty nice inside. Anyways, I went in the fair and there were a lot of tables set up. There were different companies like the FBI, SSA, Federal Aviation Administratrion and Federal Bureau of Prison. When I am looking at all the fliers I realized they're all government. There was also the new communication system called ZVRS. It looks cool.

I have always been interested in FBI because I always wanted to work there. I learned a few things while I was at the job fair. There were 46 tables. They were all interesting because there were different things. I stopped by almost all the tables and took their brochures so I can learn more information.  It was a good learning experience.
